Ocean Jasper

The science

The following may be confusing but the scientific message here is this: when inspiration hits, you’ve got to go with it. Take the name, Ocean Jasper™ for example. It’s not technically Jasper, but it was first discovered in the tides of the Indian Ocean. It certainly looks like Jasper, so the name seems appropriate. Right?! Here me out below.

Technically the mineral Jasper is a microcrystalline form of silica, and so is Chalcedony (pronounced “kal-seh-duh-knee”). The difference? Whether or not they can transmit light or not. Jasper is opaque, Chalcedony is translucent and allows a little light through. So, when we take small slices of Ocean Jasper™ and put it under a microscope we can see that it actually allows light to pass through, making it technically Ocean Chalcedony. But, hey, they liked Ocean Jasper™ so much they trademarked it! So we’re sticking with it. I can see why..it’s GORGEOUS. 

Ocean Jasper is found in only one place in the world: Northwestern Madagascar. It’s actually associated with two different deposits - meaning, there are two places in the Earth, about 10 miles apart, where you can find it.

The little circles you’ll see on the surface of these stones? They’re actually spherical; they've just been polished to a more 2-d appearance and so it’ll fit in the palm of your hand! Something fun to remember.

The scientific story that I babble on about above actually ties into the meaning that Ocean Jasper™ brings us: go with the flow. Sometimes, going with the flow, even if it’s against any technical rules, is the best option for all of us. 

Each of the little circles or bands of circles you’ll see in Ocean Jasper™ are mimicking floating in a sea. They’re going with the tide. They’re in flow. 

Ocean Jasper™ is an uplifting crystal that inspires us to rise above it all, and simply just go with the flow. So when we process our emotions, whether it’s happiness and joy, confusion and doubt or fear and worry, when we channel the energies of this special crystal we go with the flow. Flow, and let go.
